Informatie about Egypt

Politics

Egypt is a state, reigned from Cairo, and cannot be considered as a democracy. Since the murder of president Sadat in 1981, president Mubarak has the power. He comes out of military circles and leads the almighty National Democratic Party and points out the provincial governors.

Although a democratisation process is slowly starting to get going, this is by far not a fact. The government is not able to effectively fight off the big poverty within the country and therefore fundamentalism can still arise.
